Culture, sport and clubs We're devoted to our rich cultural and sporting life and our wide range of extracurricular clubs reflects our pupils' broad mindedness and the sheer dedication of our teachers. Sport Coombe Boys' School is one of the most successful sporting schools in the borough and we offer a host of sports including football, rugby, rowing, table tennis and basketball. Our teams and individuals have found great success at local, county and national levels. We also enjoy close links with Fulham Football Club whose trainees we teach. Music In addition to our orchestra, choir and modern music- making technology, our extracurricular music programme is flourishing with many pupils taking individual instrumental lessons. Art Housed in our new Art and Design Technology Building, our Art Department is a thriving hub of creativity and mounts regular exhibitions to brighten up the corridors and ensure that our pupils' visual skills and imagination are on show throughout the year. Drama Our regular school plays and one- off extravaganzas provide some of the cultural highlights of the school year. Our extracurricular Drama Club is also hugely popular, providing both self- expression and confidence- building skills for boys of all ages. Clubs and societies For many of our pupils, our extracurricular clubs and organisations are one of their favourite aspects of school life. From music to debating and chess to swimming, we offer a host of different options and we see these activities and skills as an essential element of your son's happiness. In addition, these clubs help forge friendships and provide the roots of hobbies and enthusiasms that will serve the boys well, both now and in their later lives. 14 Our facilities We're continually improving our campus and facilities and our boys are now enjoying the fruits of our substantial building programme. Always improving Our recent multi million pound investment has seen improvements taking place throughout the school. As well as a new assembly area and a hugely impressive Art and Design Technology block, our boys are dining in a new canteen and further improvements are planned for the next few years. Outdoor space Fresh air and exercise are especially important for children and our boys benefit from the school's extensive outside space. We encourage respect for the great outdoors and an understanding of nature. A wealth of outdoor seating is available and many of our boys eat their lunches on the benches and fields outside, especially in the summer months. We've also recently built a ' MUGA' football pitch, which means that the boys can carry on playing football and other sports in all weathers. The latest technology Our boys enjoy cutting- edge learning facilities, including a dedicated ICT suite, numerous additional computers and interactive whiteboards. Furthermore, our well- stocked Learning Resource Centre is open until 5pm every day for personal study. Food for thought We believe that healthy food helps to encourage healthy minds, better concentration and improved behaviour. We ensure that our newly built canteen always offers a healthy choice of good food for our boys to enjoy. 15 |
