Our goal is success We're focused on bringing success to all of our students and we've created an atmosphere of achievement in our boys' everyday experience. Keeping on track Our carefully structured programmes of study and highly focused assessment processes help us to keep a close track of each boy's progress, allowing us to check that they are reaching their targets and that improvements are made if and when necessary. Careful term by term numeracy- tracking ensures that boys don't ' slip through the net', whilst our literacy measures include reading awards, games and competitions, book days, a reading buddy system and a parent reading group. At Coombe Boys' School we leave nothing to chance in our quest for your son's success. Everyone's included At Coombe Boys' School we work hard to help every child achieve their very best. At the same time, we're realistic enough to know that different pupils are capable of achieving different standards. We have recently introduced an express stream to help gifted pupils receive appropriate challenges and fulfil their potential. Likewise, we have a specialist team of staff who support those students with special educational needs and we provide a ' primary style' curriculum for boys who encounter difficulties in the transition from primary to secondary school. Parental involvement We know that parental involvement is crucial to the success of your child's education. Nowadays most parents are well aware of this fact and are keen to work together with the school to bring real benefits to their son's progress. We encourage parents to get involved and stay informed by becoming part of the vibrant life of the school through the active Parent and Friends Association and our frequent social and extracurricular events. Behaviour and uniform We have very high expectations for the conduct of our boys and our Behaviour Management Policy helps to maintain a purposeful learning environment at all times. We encourage a positive atmosphere of mutual respect between pupil and teacher - there are clear guidelines on behaviour and the boys know what's expected of them and generally respond very well. We also operate a strict uniform policy. 8
