New roles, new responsibilities Now's the time for finding things out about yourself and preparing for a world of opportunity. The chance to shine We provide so many opportunities for you to take on new responsibilities. We will discover your particular gifts or talents and help you develop your abilities to the full Personal challenges take many forms - for some, it may be an Oxbridge place; for others, it may be performing in front of hundreds of people or helping a younger pupil achieve success. Remember, employers and universities are interested in more than just examination results and all these activities make impressive reading on your CV. Leaders in the house Our student voice has real influence in shaping the Sixth Form environment. Our ' house' system helps you practise your leadership style and potential as well as developing your ability to collaborate and work as a team. In your second year, you can stand for election as a school official with further responsibilities and the chance to take part in special management courses and team- building days. Peer mentoring Our unique peer mentoring system enables sixth formers to support pupils in the lower years through one- to- one and group responsibilities. This can involve anything from giving reading support, to tutoring a Year 8 student for their final end- of- year project. It's a great way to develop your motivational skills and the ability to understand and take responsibility for others. Critical discussions Being able to communicate and defend your beliefs confidently and articulately is an essential life skill. Our debating and public speaking clubs offer the chance to challenge, question and provoke - both within the school and in prestigious inter- school competitions. In a similar vein, our Critical Thinking AS Level helps develop your ability to interpret, analyse and evaluate ideas and arguments with a focus and clarity that will support your other studies. 14
